UYISENGA NI IMANZI working on Children’s Reintegration with stakeholders

UYISENGA NI IMANZI has in very recent years, in line with its objective to care of orphans and vulnerable children, to improve their living conditions on physical, psychological, social, cultural and educational issues, started a program on street children reintegration with different stakeholders. We appreciate this partnership with public, private institutions, schools and donors, coordinated by the National Rehabilitation Services. We strongly recommend that joint efforts are needed to make sure that all children are growing up in safe and protective families, and this have shown great impact with our 2 new programs: Street Children’s Reintegration and Counselling in Schools.

Dysfunctional families are at the origin of the social problems of street children and school dropout, according different testimonies. Family conflicts, family separation and chaotic households expose more children to flee the family environment.

UYISENGA NI IMANZI has initiated the new approach referring to UN guidelines for the alternative care, focusing on:
- Individual vision/Dream
- Building confidence/Resilience
- Promotion of self-determination
On the other hand, positive parenting approach is the key that should enable parents to feel more responsible and to build child protection networks.

Interventions are conducted one to one, in small or big group (family, system, group), on field, in schools,……Professionals meet regularly for exchanges and supervision while UYISENGA NI IMANZI and Rwanda Psychological Society coordinate the Counselling Program within schools.
