Transmission of Intergenerational Resilience

Youth and Children’s workshops held in Nkwihoreze project marks a significant milestone in the collaborative efforts of the #UyisengaNiImanzi and #AERG supported by #UniversityCollegeofLondon. With a shared goal of empowering children and young generation to develop strength and resilience, this initiative is designed to make a meaningful impact on the lives of young individuals in the community through transmission of intergenerational resilience rather than trauma.

Through interactive sessions and engaging activities, the workshop aims to equip children with essential skills and values that will enable them to navigate the complexities of their daily lives with confidence and strength. By fostering integrity, the program seeks to instill a sense of honesty, responsibility, and moral courage in the participants, laying the foundation for ethical decision-making and positive relationships. Furthermore, by building resilience, the workshop endeavors to empower children to confront and overcome the challenges they may encounter within their families and social circles. Through strategies such as problem-solving, emotional regulation, and coping mechanisms, participants will learn to adapt and thrive in the face of adversity, ultimately emerging as resilient individuals capable of weathering life’s storms.

Central to the workshop’s ethos is the recognition of children as active agents of change within their communities. By nurturing their essential potential and fostering a sense of agency, the program not only seeks to benefit the participants themselves but also aims to empower them to support and uplift their peers, family members, and friends. Overall, the collaboration between Uyisenga Ni Imanzi and AERG represents a holistic approach to child development, addressing not only the immediate needs of participants but also investing in their long-term well-being and capacity to effect positive change. As the opening workshop unfolds, it heralds the beginning of a journey towards a brighter and more resilient future for the children of Nkwihoreze.
